Governor Elect Rick Scott Makes Stop at Epcot

Florida Governor-Elect Rick Scott underscored his commitment to education with a stop at Epcot today.
Scott, soon to be Florida’s 45th governor, visited the park with a group of children on Monday during his “Forging a Path to Prosperity Appreciation Tour.”  The children who accompanied Scott to Epcot were from Frontline Outreach, a program geared toward inner-city children.
While Scott’s message was about the importance of education, he also took the opportunity to try out a few rides during the visit.

College Football Players Take Part in ‘Day for Kids’ Event

There were some happy kids running around Disney this holiday weekend – and they weren’t all pint-sized. 
On Sunday, players from West Virginia University, North Carolina State, Michigan State, and Alabama participated in the Day for Kids at DisneyQuest.  During the event, players were paired with underprivileged children from the Orlando area for a day of game-playing in the five-story indoor amusement park, which features virtual rides and video games.

Man Killed When He Steps in Front of a Disney Bus

A man was struck and killed when we stepped into the path of a Disney bus yesterday evening.
Robert Krueger of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, was walking alone through the parking lot of Port Orleans resort on Walt Disney World property when he stepped into the vehicles path just before 6 p.m. Sunday evening.  Mr. Krueger was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Witnesses reported that the bus had the right of way, and that Mr. Krueger was not on a crosswalk.  Although the incident is currently under investigation, …

Chilean Miners Are Going to Disney World!

From one of the most gripping stories of 2010 to the happiest place on earth!
The Chilean miners, made famous by their harrowing ordeal which left them stranded 2,300 feet below the earth for more than two months, will be treated to a Disney World vacation next month, accompanied by their immediate families.
The miners will act as honorary Grand Marshals for the Main Street U.S.A. parade on January 27, and they and their families will also receive $500 gift cards (one per family) to spend during their special vacation.

‘House Crashers – Disney Holiday Special’ to Air Holiday Weekend

Can’t make it to Disney World, but in need of a Disney fix?  DIY Network may have just what you need – in more ways than one!

Jerry Bruckheimer’s Shares Personal Pics of the Latest ‘Pirates’ Film

As you scroll through super producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s personal snaps from the “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” set, it’s not hard to see why he’s such a successful tastemaker when it comes to films.
Bruckheimer has captured sweeping vistas and intimate personal moments, interactions between a cast dressed for the past and a crew firmly ensconced in the present. Gorgeous island settings woo us back for another adventure with Johnny Depp’s alter ego, Captain Jack Sparrow.

Happy Birthday, Snow White!

Can you believe that the “Fairest of them all” is 73 years old today?
On this day in 1937, Walt Disney did what no one else had ever attempted, and released a full-length animated feature film.  Many thought the ambitious project would be a monumental failure; instead, it paved the way for an entire genre.
So, Happy Birthday, Snow White.  And thank you, Mr. Disney.
