‘Basin’ at Downtown Disney District Closes; Anne Geddes to be Next

One store has recently closed in Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District, and another will follow later this spring.
Basin, which specializes in bath and beauty products, officially closed its Disneyland Resort location on December 31.  The store opened in the popular Disney shopping destination 10 years ago.
Basin still has two locations at Walt Disney World – one in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and another at Downtown Disney.  There are apparently no plans to close either at present.  “Disney and Basin have had a valued partnership over the last 10 years and look …

Disney Conjures an Oceanview in Every Room on the Disney Dream

Out of all the amazing, state of the art, cutting edge technology that we’ve seen displayed on the Disney Dream this week, this has GOT to be my absolute favorite feature.  Maybe it’s because I’ve had the, um, pleasure of an inside stateroom.
Only Disney could figure out how to get an ocean view into every room on the ship – even the inside ones.  Behold:  virtual portholes!  And they are not just virtual portholes.  They are magical portholes.  What’s so magical about them?  Well, I’m glad you asked.
The portholes show …

Nathan Lane to Reprise Role of ‘Pepper’ on Upcoming Episode of ‘Modern Family’

Our friends over at ABC’s “Modern Family” clearly like things nicely seasoned, as Nathan Lane is set to reprise his role as Pepper Saltzman in an upcoming episode this spring.
Lane made magic opposite Eric Stonestreet (Cam) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitch) last fall as their thrower-of-flamboyant-parties friend. In fact, in the previous episode, the couple are on their way out the door to Pepper’s latest fete, Oscar Wilde & Crazy Brunch, when the earthquake hits, giving them the perfect out.
This time around, Pepper accompanies Cam and Mitch, along with other friends, …

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida Benefit from Special Disney Dream Cruise

We think this is just a cool story.
We first told you back in December about a special benefit cruise that Disney Cruise Line planned.  The Benefit Preview Cruise would benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida.  And not only that – but 45 children from local clubs were to be among the passengers for this special two-day cruise – and some of the first people EVER to sail on Disney’s newest ship, the Dream.
Well, we’re happy to announce that the adventure is underway for these special boys and girls.  …

Star Sightings: Stars Come Out to Play on the Disney Dream

When the Disney Dream set sail on her christening cruise, heading for the warmer, sunny shores of Castaway Cay this week, there were hundreds of media personalities from all over the globe on board, all sending their stories back to their waiting audiences, who were looking for the first glimpse of an Aqua Duck adventure, the first taste of Remy, the first merchandise from the shops.  But also on board were some stars, who were as busy taking in the sights, tastes, and sounds of the new ship as the …

Oscar Martinez: Making Magic for 54 Years!

How’s this for longevity?  We love this story that we spotted today in the Disney Parks Blog.
Oscar Martinez has been making magic for guests of Disneyland resort for 54 years!  Martinez is Disneyland Resort’s longest tenured cast member, and after more than a half century of service to Mickey Mouse, he’s earned his very own place on the menu.
As a culinary cast member at Carnation Cafe, where he’s been since 1967, Oscar enjoys making breakfast delights for guests of the Anaheim resort five days a week.  But he is most …
