Disneyland Resort Announces Trio of Opening Dates for Summer Season

Patient guests who have endured all of the refurbishment and renovation at Disneyland Resort are in for many treats this summer, as the Parks announced three important opening dates today.
To kickoff Memorial Day weekend in a big way, Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is set to debut on Friday, May 27 at Disneyland Park.  The new parade will include bold percussion and rhythms, sure to get everyone dancing in the streets.  Billed as “an explosive music festival,” the celebration will feature live musicians and lots of opportunities for guest interaction.

Dooney & Bourke Creative Director Ian Ray to Be at Magic Kingdom Saturday

Disney Fashionistas:  you may want to head to Magic Kingdom tomorrow for a special treat!
Dooney & Bourke’s Creative Director, Ian Ray, will be on hand to meet and greet guests tomorrow at Magic Kingdom.  Mr. Ray will be at Walt Disney World to celebrate the official launch of the new co-branded line of Disney Dooney & Bourke handbags, which celebrates 40th Anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Victoria and Albert’s Chef Scott Hunnel Nominated for Prestigious Honor

Congratulations to Scott Hunnel, Victoria and Albert’s Chef de Cuisine, who has been named a semi-finalist in the Best Chef – South Category by the James Beard Foundation!
Chef Hunnel has been nominated in the category before, and under his steady direction, Victoria and Albert’s, located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, has been awarded many local, national, and international awards.  The restaurant has a history of consistent excellence which includes nine consecutive AAA Five Diamond Awards and twenty consecutive Mobil Travel Guide Four Star Awards.

Disney Dreamers Academy Comes to Walt Disney World This Weekend

Disney, entertainer Steve Harvey, and Essence Magazine are joining together this weekend with one message for a group of special students:  If you can dream it, you can do it!
For the fourth consecutive year, Harvey is hosting the Disney Dreamer’s Academy at Walt Disney World.  The program selects 100 students from a field of 1000s of applicants in grades nine through twelve, for an opportunity to participate in the weekend-long event.  Participants go behind the scenes at Disney and learn about different careers, have the chance to experience mentoring tailored to …

Star Sighting:  ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Tony Dovolani Romances Belle

Tony Dovolani, one of the featured dancers on the ABC hit series “Dancing with the Stars” tripped the light fantastic with Belle from Beauty and the Beast yesterday at Walt Disney World’s Epcot.  The two shared a number in World Showcase, as, appropriately, Lumiere and Mrs. Potts in topiary form looked on.

The numbers are in, and they look great:  based upon ratings, Disney Junior appears to be a resounding success.
The new block of programming, which debuted on the Disney Channel February 14, posted a big ratings boost over its predecessor, Playhouse Disney, from a year ago.  In its first week on air, Disney Junior gave the Disney Channel its best ratings ever among children in general (474,000, up 34% from the same period in 2010,) as well as with boys age 2-5 (262,000, up 48%.)  The block also posted its second-best weekly …

Video:  Third ‘Mars Needs Moms’ Trailer Released

We realize we just showed you the second “Mars Needs Moms” trailer, released last week, but this one is so cool, we thought you needed to see it, too.

Epcot’s Pixie Garden Hollow Open for Fairy Encounters

Tinker Bell and her Fairy Friends have winged their way over from Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to successfully land in Epcot.
Just in time for the 18th Annual Flower and Garden Festival, which starts next month, Tink has her own special Pixie Hollow to call home.  The garden setting, which will be Tinker Bell and the Fairies’ permanent home, is located between Mouse Gear and the Kim Possible booth.

FASTPASS Coming to New Mickey Meet and Greet at Magic Kingdom

With the Fantasyland expansion well underway, and Toontown officially closed, we all knew that Mickey and Friends would have to find a new home at Magic Kingdom.  Today, Disney is sharing a few more details about the spot that’s being prepared for everyone’s favorite Mouse.  Check out the beautiful artist’s rendering of what the new space will look like!
