‘Modern Family’ Jesse Tyler Ferguson Drops in on Walt Disney World

A star of one of TV’s hottest sitcoms, “Modern Family,” Jesse Tyler Ferguson entertains millions as Mitchell on the show.  But it was Ferguson’s turn to be entertained this week, as he vacationed at Walt Disney World.  Photographers were on hand to capture this fun moment, as Ferguson rode “Toy Story Mania!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with Justin Mikita.  Sources say that he and Mikita also enjoyed the sites and rides of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Screenwriter Suing Disney and Pixar for ‘Cars’

Jake Mandeville-Anthony, a U.K. based screenwriter, has filed suit against Disney and Pixar for alleged copyright infringement and breach of implied contract. Mandeville-Anthony claims that “Cars” and “Cars 2” are based on characters and a story he shopped around to several production companies in 1993.
The lawsuit was filed on March 14 in U.S. federal court, wherein Mandeville-Anthony states that he had “sent copies of his works to various production companies, including Disney” and also alleges that he met with Jim Morris in person to give him copies of his project. At …

New Characters and Locations Slated for ‘Star Tours 2.0’

Star Tours 2.0, the updated version of the popular 1980’s simulator ride Star Tours, will give eager fans a brand new experience when the attraction re-opens at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort later this spring.
The ride is set between the “Star Wars” prequels and the original trilogy and will feature brand new special effects and high-definition 3-D technology. In fact, riders will be able to change the storyline throughout the ride, resulting in up to 54 new experiences and a different ride each time.

Star Sighting:  Alyson Stoner Shows Phineas and Ferb a Few Cool Moves

Alyson Stoner, who voices the character Isabella on Disney Channel’s “Phineas and Ferb,”  took a few minutes to pose with the stars of her show last weekend while at Epcot.  Stoner palmed a soccer ball while hanging at Walt Disney World during Disney Magic of Healthy Living – the Weekend.  She and other Disney Channel stars took part in the weekend-long celebration of healthy living.

Run Disney Teases Facebook Fans with New Race Clues

Run Disney plans to announce a brand new event next month, but not before teasing fans on Facebook first.

Disneyland Half Marathon Sold Out Early

Since the Disneyland Half Marathon started six years ago, individual slots have never sold out this fast. According to the race’s website, it took only 2 months for the race to fill up once registration opened, but there are a few charitable organizations that may have spots left.
About 15,000 people are expected to participate in the Half Marathon this year, and Bob Hitchcock, a spokesman for Disney sports, says that new marketing efforts led to the faster sign-ups. In addition to a new marketing campaign to get the word out …

Michael Chabon’s Name Mentioned for Work on ‘The Magic Kingdom’ Screenplay

Disney’s ambitious film project, “The Magic Kingdom,” based upon the company’s beloved theme park, may be met with skepticism from some at first glance, but Michael Chabon (Pulitzer-prize winning novelist and author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and Wonder Boys) and blockbuster director Jon Favreau (The first two Iron Man films and this summer’s “Cowboys & Aliens”) have the potential to bring considerable clout to the project.

‘Toy Story 3’ Director Lee Unkrich to be Honored with Prestigious Award

Director Lee Unkrich , noted Pixar creative force who is most recently known for his work on the blockbuster “Toy Story 3,” will soon add another award to his trophy case, as the University of Southern California graduate has been named the recipient of this year’s Mary Pickford Alumni Award.

The award, which recognizes alumni contributions to the cinematic arts, will be presented to Unkrich at the graduation ceremony for USC’s School of the Cinematic Arts.  The ceremony will be held May 13 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
