Disney Theatricals Cancels Broadway Performances Due to Hurricane Sandy

Those of us on the East Coast are gearing up for Hurricane Sandy and its effects over the next few days, and in preparation for the storm, Disney Theatrical Productions has canceled several performances of its Broadway productions.
The October 28-29 performances of Newsies, Mary Poppins, and The Lion King will be officially canceled, Disney Theatricals announced this afternoon. The dates/times of the canceled performances are as follows:
Mary Poppins: October 28th at 6:30 PM (New Amsterdam Theater)
The Lion King: October 28th at 6:30 PM (Minskoff Theater)
Newsies: October 29th at 7:30 PM …

Star Sighting: Tim Burton and Family Visit Disneyland Paris

Famed director Tim Burton took his family to Disneyland Paris this week, where he celebrated the release of his newest film, Frankenweenie.
Burton stopped to pose in front of Disneyland Paris’ spooky Phantom Manor attraction with actress Helena Bonham-Carter and their children Billy Ray and Indiana Rose. Joining the family were Jack and Sally, the main characters from the 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas, which Burton produced and co-wrote. Jack and Sally are currently making appearances in the park as part of Disneyland Paris’ Disney Halloween Festival, which continues through November 4.

Full ‘Iron Man 3′ Trailer Officially Released

We’ve been getting a lot of updates this month about Marvel’s highly anticipated new film Iron Man 3, including the release of the film’s official synopsis and teaser trailer. However, the biggest update came earlier this week, when Marvel Studios released the first full-length theatrical trailer for the film, making us even more excited for Tony Stark’s thrilling return to the big screen.

Disneyland Candlelight Ceremony Narrator List Now Available

For the first time ever, Disneyland is extending its traditional Candlelight Processional and Ceremony to twenty nights, and yesterday, they shared the updated list of celebrities who will narrate the event each evening.
Two performances will take place nightly December 1-20 (the first two nights will be by invitation only, as has been the tradition since the event began in 1958.)
The following celebrities will take part in the 2012 celebration:
Dec. 1-2: Dennis Haysbert (actor)*
Dec. 3-5: Kurt Russell (actor and Disney Legend)
Dec. 6-8: TBA
Dec. 9-11: Lou Diamond Phillips (actor)
Dec. 12-13: Dick Van Dyke (actor and Disney Legend)

Rumor: Plans for New ‘Avatarland’ Reportedly Leaked

With the bulk of the work on New Fantasyland nearing completion (and what is not completed is well known), the attention on development at Walt Disney World is shifting back to Animal Kingdom and the plans for a new land based upon James Cameron’s film, Avatar.
Earlier this week, Stitch Kingdom published photos of what appear to be blueprints of  an enormous building housing two attractions.  Because of the Avatar announcement, logic would dictate that the attractions are connected with that project.  The first attraction seems to be a theatre-based attraction, …

Narrator List Finalized for Epcot’s Candlelight Processional

Disney has announced that all celebrity narrator spaces for its upcoming Candlelight Processional at Walt Disney World’s Epcot have now been filled.
While the list is always subject to change, at present, the line up will be as follows:
•Nov. 23-25 — Geena Davis
•Nov. 26-29 — Neil Patrick Harris
•Nov. 30-Dec. 1 — Whoopi Goldberg
•Dec. 2-4 — Andy Garcia

New Passholder Preview Dates Added for Fantasyland Sneak Peek

With what has been termed an ongoing “dress rehearsal” firmly underway, it may seem a little superfluous, but Walt Disney World is offering its annual passholders special access to Fantasyland during a series of New Fantasyland Previews for Passholders.
Originally, passholder previews were slated to be held over two weekends in November, but registration for the events were plagued by technical difficulties, which left many frustrated passholders complaining.  When passholders took to airing their grievances in public forums like Facebook and Twitter, Disney reacted by opening up 11 additional dates for passholders to gain …

Disney Launches ‘Cricket Fever’  Multiplatform Game

Disney has launched a new cricket game that allows players to challenge their friends and families without the need for having a device that operates on the same platform.
DisneyUTV’s Cricket Fever Challenge is available on the iOS and Android systems, as well as online through Facebook. The multiplatform, multiplayer game allows players from all over the world to compete against each other and obtain high scores. Celebrities Petition Barneys to Change Minnie Mouse Window Display

Barneys have released a mock-up of their intended Christmas window display, which features iconic Disney characters like Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald and Daisy re-imagined as tall, super-skinny models.
Several celebrities – including Sideways star Virginia Madsen and Disney heiress Abigail Disney – have added their names to a petition to scrap the holiday display, believing it sends the wrong message to young girls.

The Stanley Cup Visits Mickey Mouse at Disneyland Park

To celebrate the LA Kings NHL championship win, the Stanley Cup has been touring various parts of the Southern California area recently.
On Tuesday, the iconic cup made a stop at Disneyland Park to visit two icons: Mickey Mouse himself and Sleeping Beauty Castle! Mickey took the time to pose for a photo outside the castle with the cup, and looks particularly happy to do so.
