Disney Announces ‘Star Wars’ Weekends Dates for 2013

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has just announced the dates for Star Wars Weekends next year, so make sure to mark your calendars if you don’t want to miss out on all the fun.
The annual event will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 17-June 9, 2013. Few details have been released about the upcoming event, but we do know that James Arnold Taylor and Ashley Eckstein are returning as hosts. Vans and Disney Collaborate on New Shoe Collection

Vans and Disney have collaborated on shoe collections in the past, and they are currently at it again with two new designs that are expected to be available late next year.
The new shoes will use the Vans Sk8-Hi LX style and incorporate two Disney-themed patterns to appeal to the Disney fanatic in all of us. The first style features the iconic Mickey Mouse pattern on the rear of the shoe with a bright red coloring, while the second shoe features a blue color and a Donald Duck print.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Magic Kingdom

If you missed the holiday hubbub at “The Happiest Place on Earth,” you can still celebrate the holiday season, Disney-style.
At Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom park, guests are invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a variety of festive entertainment options. If you plan to catch one of the fireworks spectaculars, arrive early and plan to stay for the entire day. Typically, the park reaches maximum occupancy very early in the day, and will close during mid-afternoon.

Disney Ambassador Hotel in Tokyo Disney Resort to Undergo Renovations

From January 23 to February 15, the Disney Ambassador Hotel in Tokyo Disney Resort will undergo partial renovations to offer a more inviting atmosphere to guests.
The Disney Ambassador Hotel, already well-known for its Disney-themed interior, plans to renovate the hotel to the next level by incorporating the classic Mickey and Minnie characters into its decor scheme. When the hotel reopens, guests will have the chance to stay in the newly created Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse rooms which will reflect each character’s style.

Disney Wins Control of ‘Winnie the Pooh’ Trademarks In Federal Court Ruling

A 21-year legal battle ended last week, as a federal court ruling protected Disney’s trademark of the characters of Winnie the Pooh. The U.S. Federal Court of Appeals upheld a decision set by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which blocked challenges to Disney’s trademark by Stephen Slesinger Inc.
Stephen Slesinger, a New York literary agent and pioneer in cartoon character marketing, was the first to see the potential in A.A. Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh characters, and Milne transferred the characters’ merchandise rights to Slesinger in 1930. Following Slesinger’s death, his widow then assigned …

Disney’s ‘Planes’ to Get a Theatrical Release in 2013

Following the success of the Cars franchise, Disney announced in 2011 that a spin-off of Cars, entitled Planes, was set to be released on DVD and Blu-ray in fall 2013. However, this week brought the new announcement that the computer animated film will now be released in theaters on August 9, 2013.

Ricky Gervais Officially Signs On to ‘Muppets’ Sequel

A few days ago, we let you know that actor Ricky Gervais was currently rumored to star in the upcoming sequel to The Muppets. Now, the casting news has been confirmed, and Gervais will officially be starring in the highly anticipated new film.
