Star Sighting: Country Singer Zac Brown Visits Walt Disney World

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Zac Brown visited Walt Disney World earlier this week.  While there, he took a few minutes to pose with a country-attired Goofy.
Brown fronts the Zac Brown Band. The group picked up the Grammy for best country album earlier this year in honor of their latest work, “Uncaged.”  Brown was also recently in the Central Florida area to sing during the Daytona 500.

New Age Limits Restrict Minors From Entering Disney Parks Alone

Beginning this Saturday, children under the age of 14 will no longer be permitted to enter Disney Parks in the U.S. without an adult accompanying them.
While many probably thought a rule like this was already in place, it’s actually a new guideline. Disney states that no particular incident triggered the new rule.
To enforce the rule, Cast Members manning entry points will monitor guests, and engage them in conversation if they suspect the person in question is under 14. If so, the parents or guardians of the child will be contacted …

20th Annual International Flower and Garden Festival Underway at Epcot

Gardeners and Foodies alike have plenty to smile about, as the 20th Annual International Flower and Garden Festival got underway recently. It’s Official: Construction to Begin On Disney Springs Next Month

Disney has unveiled plans for a long-anticipated overhaul to Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney location, after the news first leaked via unnofficial sources earlier this month.
The area is slated to be known as Disney Springs, and along with the plans, Disney has developed a back story:

Minnie’s Moonlit Madness and a Day at the Beach Community Outreach Events

Disney cast members presented the Orange County’s Pacific Symphony with a check for $5,000. The money was raised during an annual cast-member charity event called Minnie’s Moonlit Madness.
A cast member favorite, Minnie’s Moonlit Madness is a trivia-game-cum-scavenger-hunt in Disneyland where teams of four must complete a list of 10 assignments before midnight. The catch: all teams of four are tied together with rope! This year, 350 teams from all over the Walt Disney Company – including a team from Aulani – participated in the “Soundsational”-themed charity event, raising $5,000 …

Disney Reveals First Shanghai Disney Resort Image

Disney is giving us our first look at what Shanghai Disneyland will look like.
Revealed at the company’s recent annual business meeting, the computer rendering shows a central landmark familiar to Disney fans — an Enchanted Storybook Castle. Water also features prominently in the picture, as previous plans indicated that it would.
“This is personally very special to me,” said Rober Iger, Disney’s president and CEO.  He reportedly has spent 15 years on the project.  “It is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese,” he said.

‘Teen Beach Movie’ Premiere Set for Friday, July 19 on Disney Channel

Get your beach blankets and surf boards ready. Just in time for the height of summer fun, Disney has announced that its highly anticipated Teen Beach Movie will premiere on the Disney Channel Friday, July 19.
The made for TV musical stars Ross Lynch (Austin from Disney’s Austin & Ally) and Maia Mitchell (ABC Family’s The Fosters) as romantic duo Brady and McKenzie, who are transported via time warp into a 60s beach party movie. Teen Boy in Critical Condition After Being Rescued from Disney World Resort Pool

A thirteen year old boy is listed in critical condition today after being pulled from a Walt Disney World resort pool by his cousin.
The boy, who is visiting the resort from Missouri, was playing in the pool with other family members. The boy’s family became concerned after not seeing him for several minutes, when his cousin spotted him and pulled him from the water.  A guest and the boy’s father began to administer CPR at that point. It is unclear where lifeguards, who are on duty at the pool from …

‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ Grosses $80 Million in Opening Weekend

Did you go see Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful in theaters this weekend? If so, you certainly weren’t alone, as it was announced today that the film grossed $80.3 million domestically in its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest March openings ever.
The audience for the film, which tells the story of the Wizard of Oz’s initial arrival in Oz, was evenly split between male and female, Disney reported, and 46% of ticket buyers were under the age of 25. Oz: The Great and Powerful also grossed $69.9 …

‘Oz’ Sequel Already in the Works

On the day that Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful makes its debut in theatres, word is already out that Disney is planning a sequel.
The studio has given the go ahead for writer Mitchell Kapner to begin fleshing out the next installment in the story. If following the progression of the books, that would indicate the next film would be based upon The Wonderful Wizard of Oz — the same L.
