The Walt Disney Studios Set another Company Record with 2013 Domestic Box Office Results

Despite a slight bump in the road thanks to a certain masked ranger, this year has been a rather great year for The Walt Disney Studios.
Earlier this month, the Studios set yet another company record when it reached an all-time high at the domestic box office breaking the previous record of $1.547 billion set in 2012.
The domestic box office record means the Studio was a triple threat this year, breaking records internationally, globally, and domestically.
In November, the Studio announced it reached the $4 billion mark, surpassing the $3.791 billion mark …

Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First Join the Cast of Disney Junior Play n’ Dine at Hollywood & Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Beginning next month, diners at Hollywood & Vine’s Disney Junior Play n’ Dine character dining experience will have the chance to meet two new cast members.
Disney Junior stars Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First are joining the Play n’ Dine cast of characters on January 26, 2014.
This fan-favorite character dining experience is celebrating its eighth year of serving guests a great breakfast and lunch buffet with some of their favorite Disney Junior friends.

Walt Disney Japan and Partners Collaborate to Create a Very Disney Holiday in Japan

Walt Disney Japan and a couple of partners have collaborated to give Disney fans and citizens in Japan the chance to experience a magical holiday season.
Working with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Estate Building Management, Disney Japan produced Happiness Town Projects that featured Disney-themed building takeover at the Yokohama Landmark Tower and in Tokyo’s Marunouchi business district.
The project was named Bright Christmas 2013 and runs through Christmas Day in Tokyo.

Walt Disney World Announces Dates for ‘Star Wars’ Weekends 2014

The Walt Disney World Resort has announced the dates for the 2014 Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Star Wars Weekends happens every weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) from May 16 – June 8 next year.
The dates are May 16-18, May 23-25, May 30-June 1, and June 6-8.
Star Wars Weekends give guests a chance to experience the largest collection of official Star Wars characters, conversation with Star Wars celebrities, a motorcade that travels through the park, and much more.

Final Limited Time Magic Surprise Features Merchandise with New 2014 Disney Parks Artwork

This week’s Limited Time Magic surprise is the final one of the year and it features the debut of some the new Disney Parks artwork for next year.
The artwork – selected by fans – is debuting on 2014 dated items including T-shirts, D-Tech phone cases, coffee mugs, and a watch.

Disney VoluntEARS Spread Holiday Cheer around the World

Disney VoluntEARS have been celebrating 30 years of service this year, and during this holiday season they have been continuing to donate their time around the world.
Walt Disney World Resort VoluntEARS collected and donated more than 32,000 new toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. The toys, games, and books will be given to children in Orange and Seminole counties in Central Florida.

Cirque du Soleil’s ‘La Nouba’ Celebrates 15th Anniversary with a Special Appearance from Mickey and Minnie

Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month, and for the first time in the show’s history, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse appeared on the Cirque stage.
Prior to the Wednesday evening performance Mickey and Minnie took the stage to congratulate the artists and crew on their upcoming anniversary.

Disney Interactive’s ‘Disney Animated’ Named Apple’s iPad App of the Year

For the first time ever, a Disney app was named Apple’s iPad App of the Year.
Disney Animated was selected as the top app out of the 100,000 iPad apps that were launched in 2013.
Disney Animated – created through a partnership between Disney Interactive, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and developer Touch Press – gives fans the ability to discover the story of Disney animation through interactive illustrations and animation workshops.

Walt Disney World Cast Members Design Holiday-Dressed Bears for the Salvation Army’s Dress-A-Bear Program

Walt Disney World cast members recently designed more than 900 bears for the Salvation Army’s Dress-A-Bear program.
The cast member designed Disney Bears or Duffy Bears – 920 in all – will be given to children in Central Florida.
The cast members created hand-made costumes or used ready-made costumes for the bears, creating princess bears, cowboy bears, and of course bears dresses as Disney characters. The design-a-bear has been a tradition for cast members for more than 15 years.
