Tokyo DisneySea Celebrating 15th Anniversary

Tokyo DisneySea is celebrating its 15th anniversary – the crystal anniversary – this year with an almost year-long celebration.
DisneySea is the only Disney Park themed to the sea and the anniversary celebration is ‘Tokyo DisneySea 15th Anniversary: The Year of Wishes.’
The celebration begins on April 15 with a new fireworks show and two other new shows.
‘Crystal Wishes Journey’ takes places at the Mediterranean Harbor and features Disney characters and their wishes.
And, ‘Big Beat Band’ will take place at the Broadway Music Theatre with new music, costumes, and scenes. This show …

New ‘Zootopia’ Exhibit Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Guests visiting Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will soon be able to check out a new exhibit inspired by Disney’s Zootopia.
When making the film Zootopia, the filmmakers worked with animal care professionals from Disney’s Animal Kingdom to learn about animal behaviors, personalities, and movements. The artists working on the film incorporated this information into the animation.
The Zootopia exhibit will show guests how the film was made and what was learned at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The Week in Disney News: New Summer Vacation Offer, Change in ‘Star Wars’ Release Date, and More

Happy weekend! We hope you’re staying warm wherever you are! It was a big week for Disney news so let’s dive right in.
Walt Disney World Resort announced a new summer vacation offer for guests traveling May 29 through June 30 and from July 5 through August 15. The Summer Quick Service resort offer gives guests one free Quick Service meal per day for the length of your stay.
This offer must be booked by February 29.

New Musical Act Performing at Epcot’s Canada Pavilion

Epcot’s Canada pavilion has a new musical act, but it isn’t Off Kilter.
The band TradNation is now performing at the Mill Stage just outside the pavilion. The band brings the traditions and music of French Quebec to the pavilion.
According to Disney, music in Quebec is a “community experience that brings families, friends, and neighbors together.”
TradNation is performing traditional songs in addition to original compositions that have been passed down through the generations.
The band is playing a limited engagement five days a week. There is no word on how long they’ll …

Disney Releases Preview of the Finisher Medals for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Races

The runDisney Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend takes place February 18-21 at the Walt Disney World Resort, and we have a sneak peek at the finisher medals.
All of this year’s medals are inspired by The Little Mermaid.
The Disney Princess 5K medal features Ariel, Sebastian, and Flounder. The Disney Princess Enchanted 10K medal features a shell-inspired design.

The Walt Disney Studios Changes Release Date for ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’

We’re going to have to wait a little bit longer to see the next Star Wars movie.
The Walt Disney Studios has announced that the release date for Star Wars: Episode VIII has been pushed back to December 15, 2017. The film was slated for a May 26, 2017 release.
Currently, Episode VIII is in pre-production and filming is set to begin next month in London. Previous reports said filming was slated to begin this month. The film was written by and will be directed by Rian Johnson. JJ Abrams will serve …

New Collectible Popcorn Buckets Coming to the Disney Parks

Earlier this week the Disney Parks were celebrating National Popcorn Day (yes, it’s a “holiday”) and announced new collectible popcorn buckets.
Guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will soon be able to purchase a new lotus popcorn bucket that also lights up, turning into a luminary.
This lotus popcorn bucket won’t be available until “later this year” likely in conjunction with the opening of the Rivers of Light nighttime show later this spring. The show will feature lanterns and some of the concept art has features lotus blossoms.

Space Mountain Merchandise at Magic Kingdom is Out of This World

The Magic Kingdom’s iconic Space Mountain just celebrated an anniversary on January 19 and guests can check out some fun themed merchandise at the park’s Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
The store is home a fun collection of tees for adults and kids, but there’s one shirt that fans can only order online starting January 25. The shirt was designed by Disney Design Group artist Richard Terpstra and it features artwork based on the promotional art from the 1970s.

‘High School Musical’ Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Special Telecast of the Movie

High School Musical is celebrating its 10th anniversary and as part of the celebration Disney Channel is showing a special telecast of the film tonight, January 20, at 8 p.m. ET.
The film was a hit when it debuted a decade ago as a Disney Channel Original Movie. It starred Zac Efron as Troy Bolton, Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella Montez, Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay Evans, Corbin Bleu as Chad, Lucas Grabeel as Ryan Evans and Monique Coleman as Taylor McKessie.

Disney Announces New ‘Free Quick Service Meal’ Offer for Summer Trips to Walt Disney World Resort

The newest resort offer from Disney isn’t exactly “free dining” but it does include one free meal per day.
The “Savor Your Summer” resort offer is for a 4-night/5-day stay at a Walt Disney World Value Resort and includes a free quick service meal per night per person.
The new summertime offer is valid for most stays from May 29 through June 30 and from July 5 through August 15.
