ABC Family Announces Summer 2014 Schedule, Including Premiere Dates for New Original Series

TORI SPELLING, JENNIE GARTH, GEORGE KETSIOSABC Family has announced the network’s summer lineup, including the premieres of three new original series.

The new original series include the drama Chasing Life, and the comedies Young & Hungry starring Emily Osment, and Mystery Girls starring and executive produced by Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling.

Other shows returning this summer with new episodes include Pretty Little Liars, Switched at Birth, and The Fosters.

Chasing Life premieres June 10 at 9 p.m. ET and follows aspiring journalist April who tries to balance her career with her family including widowed mom, rebellious little sister, and her grandmother. April learns that she has cancer and the series follows her journey while she faces challenges of finding love and success while facing death.

One of the two new comedies is Young & Hungry starring Emily Osment. The series is executive produced by Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical). In the show, two worlds collide when wealthy entrepreneur Josh (Jonathon Sadowski) meets food blogger Gabi (Emily Osment). Gabi is looking to be his personal chef and must prove herself to Josh’s aide, but when a dinner goes awry Gabi turns it into an opportunity for employment and possibly even love.

Young & Hungry premieres June 25 at 8 p.m. ET.

The other new comedy, Mystery Girls, starring Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling, follows two former detective TV show stars that are brought back together by a real-life mystery. The show premieres June 25 at 8:30 p.m., following Young & Hungry.

Pretty Little Liars returns for its fifth season on June 10, Switched at Birth and The Fosters return June 16.
