The sentence was vague and fleeting, like the glow from a light that shines for a moment, and then vanishes. That it lacked an attribution as to source made it even more indefinite. It was exactly what it purported to be, a rumor, yet even the mere possibility sent my heart racing.
It was buried in the December 21, 2011 “WDW News and Rumors” rundown from a popular Disney community website and it read:
“There’s a possibility that SpectroMagic could return in October 2012.”
Craving something more definitive, I searched for corroboration. If …

The Orlando Sentinel has confirmed that the construction taking place adjacent to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is indeed a new Disney Vacation Club destination.
Rumors were rampant when the mysterious project first broke ground earlier this year. At the time, Disney released information that the construction would result in the temporary closure of the Grand Floridian’s spa, but the company refused to confirm that the expansion was indeed DVC-related.
The new expansion will add around 147 additional rooms to the Grand Floridian property, but the units will be separate from …

Today, we’re hearing from guest blogger Nick Sim, founder and lead editor of Theme Park Tourist. Take it away, Nick!
It’s a familiar story at theme parks all over the world. A shiny new attraction opens amidst a blitz of publicity, and instantly becomes the biggest draw in the park. If it’s a rollercoaster, it’s the tallest, fastest and smoothest around. If it’s a dark ride, it employs the latest and greatest technology and special effects. Plaudits follow from fans, and the park counts its money following a hefty boost in …

Editor’s Note: Today, we hear from contributor and attorney John Marchese. While the flap regarding ESPN’s firing of Hank Williams, Jr., from Monday Night Football has quieted down, we feel like the subject requires a little examination.
If there were any doubts about how serious Disney takes its image, they were extinguished by the recent termination of Hank Williams, Jr. from Monday Night Football.
The well-documented flap over Williams’ comparison of a round of golf involving President Obama and Speaker of the House, John Boehner to a hypothetical match involving Adolf Hitler and Israeli Prime …

As a lifelong Disney fan, and a frequent attender of Epcot’s annual International Food and Wine Festival, I thought I knew everything there was to know about the world’s largest food and wine fest.
That is, until I met AJ Wolfe.
Wolfe, who runs the uber popular and oh-so informative Disney Food Blog, makes it her business to know everything there is to know about everything food-related in the World of Disney. And when we say, everything, that’s what we mean.
So, it was no surprise that this Disney foodie extraordinaire has written the …

Having just returned from a visit to Walt Disney World, I started thinking about our first few family visits, some 13 or 14 years ago, and how they were the genesis of what has become a shared family passion. My wife and I had always been Disney fans—we loved the films, agreed that Walt was an unparalleled visionary and even took a pre-parenthood, “second honeymoon” Disney vacation.
When our two daughters were born, we introduced as much Disney into their lives as we could manage. Cynical friends called it “brainwashing,” but …

Disney announced the disappointing news yesterday that the annual Walt Disney World event ESPN: The Weekend is no more. The event, which has been held annually at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 2004, featured appearances by top athletes, ESPN telecasts, special events and activities for sports fans, and more. Despite the fact that the 2012 dates for ESPN The Weekend had already been announced for March 2-4, 2012, the event’s cancellation is effective immediately.
Disney has explained that the event’s cancellation comes as a way for Disney to focus more fully on …

As he previously hinted, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs is taking the opportunity that Al Weiss’ retirement created to shake up the leadership at Disney Parks and Resorts.
When Weiss announced his retirement last month as the president of worldwide operations for Disney Parks and Resorts, Staggs stated that a new operation structure would be created in the next few weeks. Now, we are starting to see what changes are coming, vis a vis the new structure.
Earlier this week, Walt Disney World president Meg Crofton was promoted by Staggs to the new …
