Patricia Disney, Former Wife of Roy E. Disney, Passes Away

Patricia Disney, the former wife of Walt Disney’s nephew and longtime Disney senior executive Roy E. Disney, passed away yesterday. She was 77 years old and suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born in New Orleans, Disney was currently living in Toluca Lake, California, where she served as vice chairman of Shamrock Holdings, the investment company of the Roy E. Disney family. Disney had previously served as former regent of St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, a past member of the board of the Peregrine Fund in Boise, ID, and a former trustee …

New Sports-Themed Vinylmation Figures Released in Time for the Super Bowl

Just in time for Sunday’s Super Bowl game, Disney has released several sports themed Vinylmation figures featuring select NFL teams, including the New York Giants and New England Patriots, who will face off during this weekend’s game.
Says Donald Ferro, a product developer for Vinylmation:

With the new Disneyland Explorer app for the iPad, users can now experience all of the sights and sounds Disneyland Resort has to offer without ever leaving the comfort of their own home.

Disney Channel Star Stefanie Scott Honored with Hand Print Ceremony

Earlier this month, Disney Channel star Stefanie Scott was honored with a hand print ceremony at Planet Hollywood Orlando.
The 15 year old plays Lexi on the Disney Channel series A.N.T. Farm, but got her start in a production of Annie. Since then, Scott has gone on to star in several commercials, print work, vocal performances and theater productions.

Disney Radio and TV Announcer Dick Tufeld Passes Away

Most well known for being the voice of the robot in the 1960’s TV series Lost in Space, famed radio and TV announcer Dick Tufeld passed away January 22. The 85 year old’s death was confirmed as being caused by heart disease and complications from a fall last year.
In addition to his work on Lost in Space, Tufeld was the announcer for Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea as well as The Time Tunnel. His voice-over work could also be heard on a variety of TV programs. The most …

Lantern Festival to Feature Tokyo Disneyland Parade

For the first time ever, Tokyo Disneyland will be sending 100 performers to  the 2012 Lantern Festival in Changhua County, located in central Taiwan. The festival is quickly becoming a well-known event, and was designed to highlight global participation.
Says Wayne Liu, the Tourism Bureau’s deputy-director:
It’s unprecedented for Tokyo Disneyland, because until now it has only sent individual characters abroad for events like this.
