Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort Expanding Convention Space

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort is expanding its convention space as part of a new construction project.
The expansion will add 25,000 square feet to the convention center, bringing the total space to 100,000 square feet.
The construction project also includes the addition of more parking spaces across Epcot Resort Boulevard. The expansion of the convention center will take up an area of the current parking lot.
This expansion project is slated to start in November and be completed in the spring of 2018.

Disney Reveals Merchandise for D23’s Destination D: Amazing Adventures

This year’s D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures is still a couple months away but Disney just released a preview of the merchandise for the event.
The event will feature James Cameron, Jon Landau, Bob Chapek, Joe Rohde, Marty Skalr, Jared Bush, and Tony Baxter in addition to a Walt Disney Archives exhibit celebrating Walt’s personal adventure.
And, Mickey’s of Glendale will have exclusive merchandise, pins, and collectibles at their pop-up store.

Orlando Magical Dining Month Starts Today and Features New Disney Springs Restaurants

Orlando Magical Dining Month starts today, August 29, and runs through Sunday, October 2.
This is the 11th year for Visit Orlando’s event and this week is considered the “preview week.”
During Orlando Magical Dining Month diners have five weeks to enjoy special savings at more than 90 restaurants in the Orlando area including several Disney Resort areas restaurants.
Magical Dining Month offers a prix fixe menu at Orlando-area restaurants for $33 per person and $1 from each meal goes to support local charities. This year the event benefits The Russell Home for …

LaShawn Merritt Trained at ESPN Wide World of Sports and Returns from Rio with Two Medals

Team USA Olympic sprinter LaShawn Merritt returns to the States with two medals – a gold from the 4×400-meter relay and a bronze from the 400-meter race.
Merritt trains at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World with other sprinters and former US Olympic track coach Brooks Johnson.
After missing the 2012 London Olympic Games due to an injury, Merritt qualified for the 2016 Rio Games. In 2008 he won the gold medal for the 400-meter and 4×400-meter relay in Bejing.

Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri to Create Burger Menu at Planet Hollywood Observatory in Disney Springs

There’s a new celebrity chef headed to Disney Springs!
Guy Fieri, star of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives – and a restaurateur – has teamed with the Planet Hollywood Observatory to create the restaurant’s burger and sandwich menu.
The revamped menu will still feature fan favorites including Chicken Crunch (chicken fingers with Cap’n Crunch coating). Salads, steaks, and ribs will also be featured.
Guests can finish their meal with the new mason jar desserts that will be exclusive to the Disney Springs location.

‘Avatar’ Creators James Cameron and Jon Landau to Join D23: Destination D Panel

D23: Destination D: Amazing Adventures takes place November 19-20 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and two big names have been added to the presenter list.
Avatar creators James Cameron and Jon Landau will be joining Imagineer Joe Rohde for the Pandora – The World of AVATAR presentation. This presentation will focus on the 12-acre land that is currently being built at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
D23: Destination D will also feature a conversation with Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, plus a sneak peek of Moana from screenwriter Jared Bush.

Two New Holiday Events for Groups at the Walt Disney World Resort

The Walt Disney World Resort is hosting two new holiday events for teams, organizations, or families.
The Winter Wonderland Escape package is available at Disney’s Contemporary Resort while the Holiday Memories event is available at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort.
Both events are geared toward family gatherings, corporate, or social groups.
The new packages are available December 2-29 and include themeing, specially designed menus, and more.

Tables in Wonderland Adds New Restuarants

Tables in Wonderland members have a few new restaurants from which to choose – including some of the newest eateries on property.
Disney recently added four new restaurants to the Tables in Wonderland – Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs, Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom, Tiffins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the Nomad Lounge which is adjacent to Tiffins.

Disney Buidling Boulder Walls at Seven Seas Lagoon Shoreline

In the wake of the fatal alligator attack earlier this summer at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney is now building a boulder wall around the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Two-year old Lane Graves was killed by an alligator as he waded on the shores of the man-made lagoon in June.
Immediately following the attack Disney erected rope fences and alligator warning signs around the Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, and other bodies of water around the resort.
