Chef Featured on Epcot International Food and Wine Festival Merchandise Gets a Name

Today is the official start of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival and in addition to the delicious food, guests can also feast their eyes on some incredible merchandise.

The festival artwork features a bumbling chef who attempting to balance a tipsy glass of wine – and if you look closely you’ll see Remy from Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille in the chef’s hat.

And now we know that loveable chef has a name – Chauncy.

Randy Nobel, the Disney Design Group artist who created the merchandise artwork for this year says the C-shaped wisp of hair under the chef’s hat inspired the name.

Chef Chauncy is featured on the festival’s banner, a reusable tote, a coffee mug, and he even has his own bobble figurine.

Other Food and Wine festival merchandise includes character artwork featuring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in their chef whites. Duffy the Disney Bear makes a return to the festival this year also in his chef’s best. Other items include a Mouse ear headband with chef’s hat, a cranberry bog pin with Chip ‘n’ Dale, and a new Vinylmation figure of Gusteau from Ratatouille.

This limited edition Vinylmation was designed by Disney artist Thomas Scott and will be packaged in a mystery box. The full-color version will have an edition size of 2,250 while the black and white version will have an edition size of 250 and will be harder to find.

The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival runs from today through November 11. For the most up-to-date festival information visit our friends at the Disney Food Blog and check out their 2013 Epcot Food and Wine Festival page.
