D23 Announces Next Installment in From the Vaults Series

The next installment of D23’s From the Vaults series is a screening of the digitally restored classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

This Disney classic starting James Mason as Captain Nemo and Kirk Douglas as the harpooner who finds himself aboard the Nautilus will be screened at the Studio Theater at the Walt Disney Studios on November 23.

The 1954 film won two Academy Awards is famous for the squid attack scene which was filmed on the Walt Disney Studios Lot inside Stage 3. A special water tank was built for the purpose of filming the movie. Captain Nemo’s famous submarine, the Nautilus, was designed by Disney Legend Harper Goff – the Imagineer who also helped design Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland and World Showcase in Epcot.

This screening of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is available only to Gold and Silver D23 members in good standing. Members may reserve a ticket for themselves and one guest, at a cost of $10 per person. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 28 at 10 a.m. PST.

A limited number of tickets are available for the event. Members will be required to provide their membership number when reserving tickets and the tickets may be picked up only with a valid ID and D23 membership card. Every D23 member who attends will also receive a special gift.
