D23 Expo’s ‘Carousel of Projects’ Gives Glimpse Into Cars Land, Fantasyland, and More

Last weekend’s D23 Expo was a fantastic display of all things Disney, and we’ll be giving you a greater look into what went on at the Expo over the next couple days. We already brought you looks at some new exciting additions to Disney Parks, such as Shanghai Disneyland, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Disneyland’s Fantasy Faire, and a Disney California Adventure statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, but here’s a glimpse at some of the items from Disney Parks and Resorts that Expo guests were treated to at the “Carousel of Progress” exhibit.

Guests at the exhibit, following a short pre-show, were invited into a large area filled with models, vehicles, and concepts for upcoming projects from Walt Disney Imagineering. Upon entering, attendees were greeted by a section devoted to the Fantasyland Expansion, which featured a complete model of the New Fantasyland, as well as a test ride vehicle for the upcoming Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (click on images for larger versions):

Of course, there was a big focus on the expansion over at Disney California Adventure as well, and the exhibit showcased a look at Buena Vista Street, the new Carthay Circle Theatre, and, obviously, Cars Land. Ride vehicles for Radiator Springs Racers and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree were on display, as well as models and other vehicles.

The Disney Cruise Line was on display as well, giving guests a glimpse at what they can expect on the Disney Fantasy, and a look at the model for the Disney Dream:

Finally, guests were given a preview of Shanghai Disneyland with a small concept model, as well as a look at some impressive new technology with The Amazing Destini. Destini is an audio-animatronic that interacted with guests without the help of a human performer behind the scenes. Developed by Imagineering’s Research and Development Division, there has been no word yet on what Imagineering plans to do with this fantastic new technology, but we’re extremely excited to see what this exciting new development for audio-animatronics will bring.

The Carousel of Projects Pavilion definitely made us even more excited for all of the amazing developments coming from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, and we’re eagerly anticipating seeing these projects make their way to the parks. What are you most looking forward to from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts? Let us know!
