Disney and Netfilx Reach Agreement on Disney Junior and Disney XD Shows

After reaching an agreement with Disney/ABC Television, Netflix is set to begin offering popular shows from Disney Junior and Disney XD. This agreement makes Netflix the only subscription streaming service with rights to these programs.

The shows that will be offered by Netflix in the multiyear agreement include Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, JoJo’s Circus, and the animated series Tron: Uprising.

In an effort to attract kids and families, Netflix has created an interface on their service called “Just for Kids” that relies on images, making it easier for kids to find children’s programming. The children’s content on the service is also commercial-free and includes ratings and reviews from a non-profit organization called Common Sense Media. That group provides parents with information about evaluating their kid’s entertainment choices.

Last December Disney and Netflix signed an agreement that awarded the service with exclusive pay TV rights to Walt Disney Studios films, including Marvel films, Disney/Pixar animated features, and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars features.
