redcross disneyIn honor of National Preparedness Month – which is happening the entire month of September – Disney is partnering with The American Red Cross to promote the Pillowcase Project.

The Pillowcase Project supports in school and after school curriculum that helps students in third through fifth grade learn how to prepare for and cope with emergencies.

Disney Channel and Disney Junior will also be airing an interstitial from Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins that deals with emergency preparedness.

The television spot features Doc and her friends showing the basics of emergency preparedness – Learn, Practice, Share, Be Prepared.

The Pillowcase Project teaches kids and families how to create emergency kits and develop a family emergency communication plan.

Since 2012 Disney has contributed to the creation and expansion of the project with $3 million in donations. Disney is also a member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program which helps ensure that the Red Cross can respond immediately to disaster at home and around the world.
