Disney animated classics slowly make their way to Blu-Ray

Has your family made the switch to Blu-Ray? Disney animated classics are slowly but surely making their way to Blu-Ray too.

And Disney is smart about how they’re doing it. First of all, all Disney animated movies available in Blu-Ray come in a DVD and Blu-Ray combo pack, with both DVD and Blu-Ray discs.

Why? Because portable DVD players, laptops, and built-in DVD players in family cars often aren’t Blu-Ray compatible.

Disney is opening the vault of animated classics at a rate of roughly two releases per year over the next six years, Engadget reports.

Here’s what’s been released so far on Blu-Ray:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Sleeping Beauty
Pinocchio

In addition, newer animated classics such as The Princess and the Frog and most of the Disney Pixar films — exceptions being The Incredibles and Finding Nemo — are available on Blu-Ray.

So, what’s next? Currently two more animated classics are available for pre-order:

Beauty and the Beast, available to buy Tuesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, available for pre-order; on sale Nov. 30.

Then, we’ll look forward to these titles’ Blu-Ray releases:

The Lion King
Bambi
Cinderella
Lady and the Tramp
The Little Mermaid
Peter Pan
The Jungle Book
101 Dalmatians

Are any of your favorites not on the list for Blu-Ray release? Some might argue that Dumbo, Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland need Blu-Ray releases sooner rather than later. Leave a comment below to share your thoughts.
