Disney Cast Members Say ‘Thank You’ to Troops with ‘Operation Uplift’

26 November 2011 No Comment

Disney VoluntEARS serve their communities in many helpful ways, but one of their most heartwarming gestures of outreach is “Operation Uplift.”

The postcard campaign to American Troops serving overseas was begun in 1995, when a Disneyland Cast Member was inspired to reach out to the men and women serving in active duty military roles all over the world.  It all began with a letter from a soldier, who said that, while troops didn’t receive much mail, when they did, it truly brightened their days, and showed them that people back home cared about them.

Since the beginning of Operation Uplift, Disney VoluntEARS have mailed more than 90,000 postcards to troops, offering support, thanks, and gratitude to those who are serving our country so that we might enjoy freedom.
