girl meets worldDisney Channel has announced that Girl Meets World has been cancelled.

The show, a spinoff of ABC’s Boy Meets World, will end after its third season this year.

The news of the cancellation was announced by the show’s writers’ Twitter account.

After the third season of filming had recently wrapped the stars had posted their own good-bye messages on social media – which makes the announcement not that surprising.

Girl Meets World told the stories of Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley and her best friend Maya.

The series finale is set to air January 20.

The show filmed more than 70 episodes and earned two Emmy nominations.

Fans will still be able to catch reruns of the show on Disney Channel’s digital platform and Video on Demand.
