Disney Channel Star Zendaya Set to Play Teen Dancer in ‘Zapped’
The final episode of Disney Channel’s Shake It Up! might be airing this fall, but series star Zendaya is keeping busy with other projects.
The network has recently announced that the teen actress-singer-dancer who placed second in the most recent season of Dancing With The Stars is set to star in a new comedy adventure movie premiering in 2014.
The movie – Zapped – follows the story of 16-year-old Zoey Stevens, a skilled dancer and straight-A student who is having a hard time adjusting to a new high school, a new dance squad, and a new stepdad, stepbrothers, and unruly dog. Things start to change for Zoey when a dog training app on her smartphone starts to control all the boys around her.
Zapped premieres on Disney Channels around the world and on Canada’s Family Channel next year. The film also stars Chanelle Peloso (Radio Rebel) as Rachel Todds, Spencer Boldman (Disney XD’s Lab Rats) as Jackson Kale, Emilia McCarthy (Hemlock Grove) as Taylor Dean and Adam DiMarco (Radio Rebel) as Adam Thompson.
The film is based on the book Boys are Dogs by Leslie Margolis and was filmed on Vancouver Island, Canada.
