Zendaya, the teen star of Disney Channel’s Shake it Up! and a finalist on the hit ABC show Dancing with the Stars, can add “author” to her ever-growing resume. The 16-year-old actress just signed a book deal with Disney Publishing Worldwide and her first book is due in stores later this summer.

The book, Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence, will feature advice for navigating the tween years, including the tools girls need to be happy and healthy. It will also include personal photos, anecdotes, recipes, playlists, and advice from Zendaya’s “team of experts” that include her co-stars from Shake it Up!, her parents, and her stylists. The book is co-written by Sheryl Berk.

“The tween years can be really fun and exciting, but they can also be a tough time in a girl’s life,” says Zendaya. “You’re just finding your voice and personal style. There’s a lot of drama in relationships with other girls, parents, siblings, teachers, and boys. I hope this book will help girls through the tougher parts of the tween years and help them appreciate the fun parts.”

On Shake it Up! Zendaya stars as Raquel “Rocky” Blue, a young dancer who is trying to make it big. The show is currently #1 among kids ages 9-14. She’s also one of the four finalists on Dancing with the Stars and will be dancing for the mirror ball champion’s trophy on Monday, May 20. Zendaya’s career includes work as a former fashion model for Macy’s, Mervyn’s, and Old Navy. She’s also recording her first album with Hollywood Records.

Zendaya’s book will hit bookshelves on August 16. Shake it Up! airs Sunday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
