Disney Junior Announces ‘Give a Book, Get a Book’ Initiative

give a bookDisney Junior recently announced its new Give a Book, Get a Book program during a celebrity book reading at the Disneyland Hotel.

The new program was announced by Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide. She was joined by Dr. Martha Bernadett, First Book Board Member.

“With each and every one of our Disney Junior series, we let a child experience the magic and learning that comes with a story well told, and deepen the emotional connection and sense of wonder and adventure that have defined storytelling at the Disney company for generations.”  Kanter said.  “The Give a Book, Get a Book program is a way for families to share stories and enter the world of giving in a simple yet effective way.”

Disney Junior stars Ariel Winter and Tim Gunn (both of Sofia the First) were joined by David Arquette (Jake and the Never Land Pirates) for a storybook reading during the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.

Disney is partnering with First Book for the Give a Book, Get a Book program and will provide up to 1 million donated books to communities in need across the country. Disney Publishing Worldwide will also provide families with free digital books.

Families who purchase specially-marked Disney Junior books or products can use a redemption code for a free Disney Digital book, and they can also donate books to a community of their choice.

The Give a Book, Get a Book initiative is meant to inspire parents to share stories to help their children develop language skills. For more information on the program and to find online activities, visit www.giveabookgetabook.com .
