heroesThe Department of Defense announced at the end of June that Disney was one of 15 recipients of the 2015 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

This award is the highest recognition from the Department of Defense to employers that support National Guard Reserve employees.

Disney, along with the other recipients, will be honored at a ceremony on August 21 at the Pentagon.

Nominations for the Freedom Award are made by employees and this year there were 2,960 nominations that were submitted by guardsman and reservists. Since the inception of the award in 1996 205 employers have received the award.

The Walt Disney Company’s ‘Heroes Work Here’ initiative is just part of Disney’s commitment to hiring, training, and supporting military veterans.  Disney also has a Heroes Supply Here program and Disney’s Veterans Institute.
