Disney Parks and Mylan Sign Strategic Alliance to Enhance Access to Epi-Pens at Theme Parks

epipen mapMylan Inc. and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts recently signed a multi-year strategic alliance to increase awareness of anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction.

The agreement will include updated maps at the Disney theme parks and on the Disney Cruise Lien in addition to updated signs in the theme parks that highlight locations with EpiPen and EpiPen Jr auto injectors.

The EpiPen locations will open in the Disney theme parks before the end of 2014, and nurses trained to administer EpiPens will be at First Aid stations during park hours. The park maps will include an EpiPen symbol and new signs will be installed at the First Aid stations.

“We are very proud to be working with Disney, which already has a strong reputation for meeting the needs of people managing severe allergies, and believe we can further raise awareness of anaphylaxis through this collaboration and our joint commitment to education,” said Mylan CEO Heather Bresch.

Disney’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Pamela Hymel said the new EpiPen locations in the theme parks and on the cruise ships will work as an “additional tool” for guests who live with severe allergies.
