Disney Ranked 9th on Fortune’s List of World’s Most Admired Companies

This week, The Walt Disney Company earned the honor of being ranked 9th out of 50 on Fortune’s 2013 list of the World’s Most Admired Companies. It joins such other iconic companies as Amazon.com, Starbucks, Google, and Apple, which earned the #1 spot.

While Disney has made the list in the past, this is the first year that the company has been in the top 10; in 2012, 2011, and 2010, the company has been ranked #13, #14, and #19, respectively. In their rationale for Disney’s spot on the list, Fortune cited Disney’s recent acquisition of Lucasfilm as part of its “quest toward massive growth,” as well as the continued popularity of Disney’s Parks and Resorts division, which saw a revenue increase of 9% over 2011.

In addition to its ranking in the top 10 companies overall, The Walt Disney Company also earned the title of the World’s Most Admired Company in entertainment, a distinction that the company has earned consistently over the past few years.
