Disney Recalling Popular Theme Park Watches

Disney, together with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling approximately 1,200 watches sold in its theme parks, the company announced Wednesday.

The watches, which feature Tinker Bell, Buzz Lightyear, and Lightning McQueen, were sold at the height of the Christmas season, between November 2010 and January 2011.  The light-up watches retailed for $30, and were sold at Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks, on Disney cruise ships, and at Disney stores in Orlando International Airport.

The batteries used to power the watches can interact with the stainless steel backings of the timepieces, causing irritation or a burning sensation, according to the joint announcement made on Wednesday.

Customers who purchased the watch can call Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts at 877-560-6477 between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET for more information, or visit waltdisneyworld.com.
