Disneyland Half Marathon Sold Out Early

Since the Disneyland Half Marathon started six years ago, individual slots have never sold out this fast. According to the race’s website, it took only 2 months for the race to fill up once registration opened, but there are a few charitable organizations that may have spots left.

About 15,000 people are expected to participate in the Half Marathon this year, and Bob Hitchcock, a spokesman for Disney sports, says that new marketing efforts led to the faster sign-ups. In addition to a new marketing campaign to get the word out about Disney running events, Hitchcock also says that half-marathons are becoming increasingly popular among runners.

The popular event will chart a course through the Disneyland Resort parks and popular Anaheim sites, like Angel Stadium.  Throughout the race, participants will be treated to entertainment and character encounters, and for the first time ever, runners can earn a special “Coast to Coast” challenge medal when they participate in half or full marathons in both California and Florida Disney parks.

While space for the Disneyland Half Marathon has sold out, runners can still nab a spot in some of the other weekend events, including the kids’ races.
