Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cuts Back Nighttime Hours

tree of lifeEarlier this year Disney’s Animal Kingdom extended its nighttime hours, staying open on most nights this summer until 11 p.m.

Now we’re seeing reports that the park may be scaling back its nighttime hours, closing as early at 6 p.m. later this fall.

The new, later nighttime hours were due in part to the new nighttime entertainment at the park including the Tree of Life night show and a night version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

The highly anticipated – and very delayed – Rivers of Light nighttime show was supposed to start Memorial Day weekend. However, the show is still “coming soon” and the place filler, ‘The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic,’ is set to close on September 5.

And there is still no official start date for Rivers of Light.

The park’s Avatar-themed land – which includes nighttime features – isn’t set to open until sometime next year.

So if you’re making plans to visit the Animal Kingdom this fall we suggest checking the online calendar to see how late the park is open on any given night.

According to the Disney Parks website, the park will start closing at 9 p.m. in September, 7 p.m. in October, and as early as 6 p.m. in November.
