Earthquake and Tsunami Update: Tokyo Disneyland, Aulani, and Disney Wonder

While reports of devastation continue to pour in following today’s 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan, and the resulting tsunami, Disney reports that company properties and cruise ships in the affected areas escaped the disasters relatively unscathed.

Tokyo Disney Resort, which is comprised of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, reported only minor injuries and little property damage.  Cast Members, however, were tending to guests who were stranded on property, forced to spend the night as the area dealt with major interruptions to transportation.  As a precaution, the parks will remain closed Saturday, as officials conduct a thorough inspection of all facilities and attractions to ensure the property did not incur structural damage.

The Disney Wonder, which is currently cruising the Mexican Riviera until it departs for Alaska later this spring, saw an altered itinerary, as the Port of Cabo was temporarily closed.

Aulani, Disney’s newest resort which is currently under construction in Ko Olina, Hawaii, on the western shore of Oahu, was unaffected by surging seas.
