‘Finding Dory’ Crosses $1 Billion Mark at Global Box Office

finding dory logoPixar’s Finding Dory has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, making it the fifth biggest animated film of all time globally.

The film is also Pixar’s second billion dollar release along with Toy Story 3.

Finding Dory debuted in the US on June 17 and earned $135 million in its debut – which is the biggest debut ever for for an animated film.

The movie is also the No. 1 domestic film of 2016 and the seventh-highest grossing film of all time.

Internationally, Finding Dory has earned $65.9 million in Japan, $55 million in the UK, and it recently opened in Germany, Austria, and German-speaking Switzerland.

Finding Dory joins Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Captain America: Civil War, and Zootopia to become the fourth billion-dollar film for The Walt Disney Studios in the last 12 months.
