Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Reopening September 27 at Disneyland

finding nemoAfter a lengthy refurbishment the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland is scheduled to reopen on September 27.

The attraction has been closed for nearly a year.

During the refurbishment the lagoon that houses the Finding Nemo attraction was completely drained. The lagoon holds 5 million gallons of water and Disneyland worked with the Orange County Water District for this part of the project.

The partnership with the OCWD allows the drained water to be treated and stored, rather than being released into the ocean via storm drains. The water from Finding Nemo was drained, sent to the OCWD’s Groundwater Replenishment System, purified, and added to the county’s underground water supply.

Once the attraction’s lagoon was ready to be refilled, the water came from the same underground water supply.

This same process was used in 2009 when Paradise Bay at Disney’s California Adventure was drained to make way for World of Color.
