First Tree Planted in Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland

We’ve been following the progress on the New Fantasyland coming to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, an exciting expansion that will include exciting rides, experiences, and restaurants for park guests to enjoy. While the new expansion is set to open in phases beginning in late 2012, this week brought an interesting new development in the expansion’s construction, as the very first tree in New Fantasyland was officially planted.

The Disney Parks Blog and Walt Disney Imagineering provided this picture documenting the tree’s arrival in the area, bringing the first true sign of life into this soon-to-be immersive and forest-like area of Fantasyland. The tree has been planted near what will become the entrance to New Fantasyland. In the picture provided, you can see Maurice’s Cottage being built to the right, with the second floor of Pinocchio’s Village Haus in the background.

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of this exciting new expansion.
