First Cinematic View Into “Disney Epic Mickey” Released on Video

A cinematic first look into the upcoming “Disney Epic Mickey” game for the Nintendo Wii system was released on video yesterday. Even though the game isn’t set to be released until November 1st, 2010 (you can pre-order it on Amazon) the opening movie sets the mood for a mischievous mouse who makes his way through a ‘Wasteland’ of forgotten Disney creations on an epic adventure. With imagery reminiscent of a modern & darker version of the 1930’s classic Disney cartoon “Thru the Mirror,” Disney fans and gamers have been anxious to get inside the action-adventure world where Disney doesn’t always look so bright & sunny.

Disney describes the game as “Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s forgotten creative efforts, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero.” (- Magical Mountain.net)

Using Mickey’s tools, gamers will have the ability to impact the world of Wasteland and shape how the story unfolds. Consequence for actions in the game will be evident and players will learn to creatively tackle different challenges to explore all the possibilities and storylines. “Disney Epic Mickey” uses an innovative concept in game play called “Playstyle Matters” – created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector.
