‘Force Friday’ Announced as Global Merchandise Event for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

force friday merchFriday, September 4 has been announced as ‘Force Friday’ – the day all the new merchandise for Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in stores.

The announcement was made on StarWars.com.

Force Friday is going to be a global event for fans to celebrate the launch of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise including toys, collectibles, books, apparel, and more.

The merchandise will hit store shelves at 12:01 a.m. and stores around the world will be opening their doors at that time.

“Every lightsaber, every action figure, every LEGO set tells a story for generations of Star Wars fans, and this global event is a celebration of those stories. We’re excited to be part of the countdown to this enormous movie moment,” said Josh Silverman, executive vice president, global licensing, Disney Consumer Products.

Fans are being encouraged to visit their local retailers at midnight on September 4 and document their adventures via social media using the #ForceFriday and #MidnightMadness hashtags.  The Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise will be available at mass retailers and at Disney Stores.

The packaging for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise was also revealed and it features the masked villain Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver in the film).
