Grand Floridian Easter Egg Display Starts March 20

eggsThis Friday marks the start of the fourth annual Easter egg display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The hand-painted and hand-carved chocolate Easter eggs are created by Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek and his team in the Grand Floridian’s bakery. They started work on this year’s eggs back in January.

The Easter eggs are 16 to 20 inches tall and are created with modeling chocolate, fondant, sculpted sugar, and royal icing. They are painted with tinted cocoa butter and are completely edible.

Each egg takes 18-20 hours to create.

Last year’s display included 18 hand-painted eggs featuring scenes from classic Disney movies. This year’s display will feature eggs with scenes from Beauty and the Beast, The Fox and the Hound, Cinderella, and more.

The Grand Floridian’s Easter egg display opens March 20 and should run through Easter.
