Hidden Camera Series ‘Prankstars’ to Debut on Disney Channel July 15

Disney Channel fans will be able to catch some of their favorite celebrities each month on the new series Prankstars, a hidden camera series set to debut on July 15. In the new Disney Channel reality series, unsuspecting fans who have been set up by their family members will come face to face with their favorite celebrities in surprising and hilarious situations. The pranks will be directed live from a mobile command center by host Mitchell Musso, best known for his work on Pair of Kings and Phineas and FerbPrankstars will debut new episodes every month, with a new group of stars featured each time.

In the premiere episode, which makes its debut on July 15, 2011 at 8:00 PM (Eastern and Pacific Times), fans will come face to face with Disney Channel celebrities Selena Gomez and Debby Ryan. Selena Gomez, disguised as a normal teenager, will be paired with 14-year-old fan Mary at an audition for a fake bubble gum commercial, while Disney Channel fan Albany, also 14 years old, will be recruited by Debby Ryan to model for her upcoming fashion show. In the show’s final prank, after Mitchel Musso’s real-life best friend fails to show up for a restaurant interview, Musso recruits 15-year-old Luke to take his place.

Prankstars is executive produced by Barry Poznick (Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?), John Stevens (Lingo), Charles Steenveld (Family Game Night) and Rick de Oliveira (All-Star Celebrity Treasure Hunt). The show, a production of ZOO Productions, has a TV-G parental guideline.
