Ilene Woods, voice of Cinderella, Dies at 81

Ilene Woods, who not only did the speaking voice, but also the singing voice of Cinderella has passed away at the age of 81 due to symptoms related to Alzheimer’s disease.

Woods did a demo for some of the songs for Cinderella as a favor. She had no idea the effort that was being expended to find the voice. After she submitted the demo:

“Two days later, Walt called. He wanted me to come over and have an interview. I gladly said, ‘Yes, anytime you say.’ We met and talked for awhile, and he said, ‘How would you like to be Cinderella?’ “

This favor paid off for her career. She did other voice work for Disney related to her part in the film.

She is survived by her son, her husband of 47 years, as well as a daughter from a previous marriage and 3 granddaughters.
