Iron Man, Spider-Man & Other Marvel Superheroes Now Appearing on Merchandise in Disneyland

Several weeks after reports that Marvel merchandise was starting to appear on DisneyShopping.com, Marvel superheroes are making their way into the parks. Action figures & t-shirts featuring Iron Man and Super-man are appearing in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney D Street store. Right in time for the theater release of “Iron Man 2,” which Disney is estimated to profit between $200 million to $300 million from.

D Street, which is a more edgy boutique-type store specializing in rock, movie, & pop culture items carries brands other than Disney’s own; including the “Junk Food Label” which is making the new Marvel t-shirts. It’s also being reported that the same Marvel merchandise is appearing in Disney’s California Adventure park. Disney officials have not made any announcements as to when this merchandise may start to appear in their other theme parks or resorts. This is the first sign of Marvel in the parks since Disney’s $4.3 billion acquisition was finalized Dec. 31.

One theme-park expert — David Cobb, the creative director at Thinkwell Design and Production in Burbank — predicted that merchandise would be among the first Marvel additions to the theme parks when Disney announced the purchase plans in August.
