If it’s time to upgrade your copy of “Bambi” – or to buy it for the first time – you’re in luck.

Disney announced last week that “Bambi,” the fifth full-length animated feature produced by Walt Disney himself – will be released for a limited time from the fabled vault.  And this time around, customers can enjoy the film like never before.  The Diamond Edition Blu-ray high definition version of the film will be available just in time for spring, on March 1, and will only be available for a limited time.

The Diamond Edition of “Bambi”will be available in many packaging options.  There is a two disc combo pack which includes both Blu-ray and DVD formats for the suggested retail price of $39.99.  And, in an effort to give customers variety in buying choices, Disney will also release the classic as a High Definition movie download for $19.99, or as a Standard Definition movie download for $14.99.  But if you’re looking for the standard DVD release, you’ll have to wait a few more days – DVDs will be available on April 19.

And if you pre-order via Amazon.com, you’ll actually save $15.00 off the list price!

Perhaps most exciting about the latest release of “Bambi” is the use of Disney’s “Second Screen” technology.  When customers download the new Disney Second Screen App onto their computer or iPad and synch it with the film, they will have the power to engage in the story like never before, enjoying interactive extras such as animated flip books, galleries, photos, trivia, and much more!

A classic coming-of-age tale that should be part of every Disney lover’s collection, Bambi, the “Prince of the Forest,” learns valuable lessons of friendship in this enduring and beautiful film.
