Magic Kingdom to Celebrate 40th Anniversary on Oct 1 with Fireworks, Presentations, and Surprises

Are you heading to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on October 1 to celebrate the resort’s 40th Anniversary? While Disney has been keeping what (if anything) will be going on that day to celebrate the occasion under wraps, some news about what guests can expect at the park on October 1 has recently surfaced.

October 1 will be a long day for those wishing to celebrate the anniversary with Disney at the magical theme park. At 10:00 AM, a special presentation will be held at Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage to commemorate the 40th Anniversary, with the exact contents of the presentation not yet known. Then, later that night, the park will celebrate the anniversary with a special fireworks display during the “Wishes” nighttime spectacular show at 9:00 PM. The park will then stay open until midnight, with large crowds expected to be at the park celebrating the event all day.

Fans of Disney artists will also be in luck on October 1, as a variety of artists will be on hand at Uptown Jewelers and the Diamond Horseshoe to sign 40th Anniversary merchandise and meet with fans. These artists include Costa Alavezos, Brent Reese, Greg McCullogh, Noah, Dave Avanzino, Jody Daily and Kevin Kidney, Jim Shore, Robert Olszewski, and Gene Gonda. In addition to these announced events, Magic Kingdom guests are sure to be in for some special surprises and treats that day to commemorate the occasion. Special park maps, buttons, and cupcakes should be available at the park on October 1 only, and surprises may include meet-and-greet opportunities with rarely seen characters.
