Marvel Entertainment, in collaboration with the Disney Interactive Media Group, have just announced the first social game based on characters from the Marvel universe.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance was developed by Disney-owned Playdom, and is now live on Facebook. The game brings some of the most iconic Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains to life via a turn-based tactical combat experience unlike any other social games available today.

Says John Spinale, Senior Vice President of Social Games, Disney Interactive Media Group:

Marvel: Avengers Alliance combines epic Marvel characters with Playdom’s industry-leading game mechanics to deliver a game that is sure to attract casual gamers and Super Hero fans alike. With this game, Disney is bringing one of the world’s largest entertainment brands to the largest social network, giving millions of fans an entirely new opportunity to engage with the characters they love.

Vice President of Game Production at Marvel, TQ Jefferson, also echos the same excitement, saying “[they] are thrilled to break new ground here, working with Playdom to create the first ever Facebook game to feature Marvel’s Super Heroes.”
At  launch, players will be able to choose from dozens of characters to recruit, including Black Widow, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and others. The game also allow players to train their heroes, customize abilities and unlock new abilities unique to their characters. The social aspect of the game comes into play when players pit their characters against their friends.
In the next few months, Marvel: Avengers Alliance will continue to expand by offering new content, stories, Super Heroes, and things like new equipment and weapons that players can unlock or purchase. To learn more, and to play, please visit facebook.com/avengersalliance.
