Michelle Williams May Play Glinda the Good Witch in Disney’s New ‘Oz’ Film

Billie Burke, move over. There may soon be a new Glinda in town.

Reuters is reporting that Michelle Williams of Dawson’s Creek, Brokeback Mountain, and Shutter Island fame, may soon be taking on the role of Good Witch in the upcoming Disney film, Oz:  The Great and Powerful.   In the film, Glinda joins forces with a snake oil salesman, who will be played by James Franco, as they try to defeat a pair of bad witches, Theadora and Evanora.  Mila Kunis, who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe in the role of Lily in the smash hit, The Black Swan, has been cast as Theadora, while studio heads are still in negotiations to bring Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener) on in the role of Evanora.

Oz:  The Great and Powerful will be a prequel to The Wizard of Oz.  Disney is hoping to release the film in late 2012.
