More Classic Disney and Pixar Re-Releases Coming in 2012 and 2013

Who can argue with success?

Following on the heels of the extraordinary popularity of Disney’s recent theatrical re-release of its classic animated feature The Lion King, the company has announced that it plans more of the same for some of its biggest films over the next two years.

Fans of Disney classics can mark their calendars now to experience four more films from the archives in 2012 and 2013:  Beauty and the Beast on January 13, 2012; followed by two Disney Pixar offerings, Finding Nemo (September 14, 2012) and Monsters, Inc. (January 18, 2013); and The Little Mermaid, slated for a September 13, 2013 release.

Disney struck gold with its recent two-week run of The Lion King, which pre-dated the film’s “release from the Disney Vault.”  The film, which has been converted to a 3D format, reportedly took in around $80 million during the most recent period in theatres.

All four films will be available in 3D.
