Muppets Turn to Pixar for Help on New Movie

We’ve brought you the up-to-date news on the New Muppet Movie starring Jason Segel, which currently has a release date of Christmas Day 2011.

Now, ABC News is reporting that Pixar has been called upon to give advice and feedback about the film, which is not yet fully greenlighted by Disney for production. The consultation between the Pixar “brain trust” — including John Lasseter, Pete Docter, and Ed Catmull — and Muppet Movie bit-wigs like Jason Segel, director James Bobin, and producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman is speculated to have included some re-writes of the script and some basic story advice.

This isn’t the first time Disney has turned to Pixar for storytelling advice. Tron:Legacy has benefited from Pixar’s prowess, as have Disney’s last several animated features. Clearly Disney is making use of the winning story powerhouse at Pixar, which has yet to create a flop in the box office.
