New ‘Tapaz’ Waterfront Restaurant May Be Coming to Epcot’s Morocco

Over the past couple years, Walt Disney World has been greatly expanding their dining options in Epcot’s World Showcase, bringing in such new restaurants as Via Napoli, La Hacienda de San Angel, and the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar. Now, another new restaurant may be in the works for 2013, this time in Epcot’s Morocco Pavilion.

The Disney Food Blog is reporting that Tapaz will be a new waterfront restaurant complex whose construction will reportedly begin in January 2013. The complex will occupy the space located next to the Mo’Rockin stage, which is currently occupied by an event space. In addition to the restaurant, the new complex will also include several shops, including one featuring ingredients from the restaurant, and a walk-up window bar selling beverages, cocktails, wine, and pastries.

The Tapaz Restaurant itself will be situated right next to World Showcase Lagoon, providing both indoor seating and outdoor terrace seating, which is sure to provide a spectacular view for Epcot’s nightly presentation of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. The menu for the restaurant, described as a “Food and Wine festival all year round,” will feature tapas, small plates, wines, olive oils, and other ingredients that represent specific Mediterranean countries, allowing guests to either choose selections all from one country, or mix and match their selections to sample a wide variety of Mediterranean cuisine.

Disney has not released an official announcement yet about the new restaurant, so all information is subject to change. Stay tuned for more news and announcements about this possible new World Showcase area.
