‘Newsies’ Star Jeremy Jordan Lands Role in NBC’s ‘Smash’

With two starring roles on Broadway in this past year alone, young actor Jeremy Jordan is making quite a name for himself on the Great White Way. However, it was recently announced that this Tony nominated star of Newsies will soon be making his mark on television as well.

This week, NBC announced that Jordan will be joining the cast of the hit TV show Smash, an hour-long program about the creation of a new Broadway show. Playing the role of a singer from Brooklyn with a “self-destructive streak,” Jordan will be a series regular on the show, joining his fellow Disney on Broadway performer Christian Borle, who is currently starring in Peter and the Starcatcher and appears as Tom, the show’s composer, on Smash.

But fret not, Newsies fans! Jordan’s newfound television career will not be stopping him from still appearing on the Broadway stage. Since Smash films in New York City, Jordan will still be on Broadway as Jack Kelly in Newsies as usual while filming the show.

Newsies is currently playing at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre, located at 208 W 41st Street in New York City. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.NewsiestheMusical.com.
