PBS Announces ‘Walt Disney’ Premiering on ‘American Experience’ in 2015

42-22306837PBS recently announced that a new four-hour, two-night film Walt Disney will be premiering on American Experience in the fall of 2015.

The announcement was made at the Television Critics Association conference on July 22.

American Experience celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013 and brings to life the characters and stories that shaped America’s past and present. The American Experience documentaries have won 30 Emmy Awards, four DuPont-Columbia Awards, and 16 George Foster Peabody Awards.

Walt Disney is being directed and produced by Sarah Colt (Henry Ford, RFK) and written by Mark Zwonitzer (JFK, Triangle Fire). The film includes archival footage from the Disney vaults, scenes from Disney films, and interviews with animators and artists, and Imagineers who helped design Disneyland.

“Walt Disney is an entrepreneurial and cultural icon,” said American Experience executive producer Mark Samels in a press release from PBS. “No single figure shaped American culture in the 20th century more than he.”
