‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ Closes on Broadway, to Reopen Off-Broadway March 18

Yesterday was a sad day on Broadway, as the Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher officially played its final performance. However, fans of the enchanting play will not have to go without it for too long. We let you know a few weeks ago that the play will be re-opening off-Broadway, and producers recently gave this new transfer an official opening date.

Peter and the Starcatcher will open at off-Broadway’s New World Stages on March 18. No casting has yet been announced for the off-Broadway transfer, but the production will be done with the same creative team as the original production. In addition to the off-Broadway transfer, the show will also begin a national tour this August at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, CO.

Based on Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry’s novel Peter and the Starcatchers, Peter and the Starcatcher tells the story of Peter Pan before he became the legendary boy who wouldn’t grow up. The Broadway production of the play was nominated for nine Tony Awards, the most of any new American play in history, and won five. Written by playwright Rick Elice, Peter and the Starcatcher features direction by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers.
